Learn as you teach! Practice new ideas with five-year-olds in the morning and reflect on and extend those ideas in the afternoon. Explore language through experience as an integrative approach to language/literacy development and subject area learning. Use local cultural practices in teaching and classroom management. Know the expectations for learning in the kindergarten classroom. This workshop will help you be able to learn from modeling, coaching, peer observation, and materials development that put children first.

Participants explore the developmental stages of young writers and different techniques to improve their writing skills. Participants also learn how to create new and exciting lessons aligned to the Hawai‘i Content & Performance Standards III (HCPS III). Assessments are correlated to each lesson, enabling participants to analyze student samples to inform their instruction.
